Senior LHP Tanner Post gave up two hits over five innings, striking out eight as Illiana Christian edged Valparaiso, 4-3.
The game took place on Thursday, April 30, at Illiana Christian High School.
Post, a Toledo commit, also had a double, one of the Vikings three hits on the night.
Freshman RHP Tyler Hutton struck out five in two innings of relief for Post. He gave up one hit and one run.
Valparaiso tok a 2-0 lead in the top of the second, but Illiana Christian struck back in the bottom half of the inning.
After Post was hit by a pitch, his brother, Hudson, singled and senior Logan Van Prooyen reached on an error by Valparaiso first-baseman Jaxson Burns, driving in junior Seth Striggow, who was pinch running for Post.
An Aden Batz’ ground out led to another run, and another Valparaiso error on a Micah McGuire grounder led to a third.
Batz is a sophomore catcher. McGuire is a senior first-baseman.
Illiana Christian added another run in the bottom of the third.
