Daniel Dykstra set the tone early as Illiana Christian controlled the match from start to finish in a 3-0 sweep of Hebron in a nonconference boys volleyball matchup.
The match took place April 13 at Illiana Christian High School, where the Vikings secured the win with set scores of 25-21, 25-18, 25-18.
Illiana Christian relied on a balanced offensive attack, finishing with 28 kills as multiple players contributed throughout the lineup. Dykstra led the way with eight kills on an efficient .375 hitting percentage, consistently finding openings against the Hebron defense. Arend van Belle added six kills, while Gavin Voss and Sam Kramer each contributed five, helping keep the offense steady across all three sets. Jacob Rozendal also played a key role in facilitating the attack, recording 20 assists and keeping the Vikings in rhythm.
At the service line, Illiana Christian created separation with 17 aces, applying constant pressure on Hebron’s serve receive. Voss led the team with six aces, while Z. Vander Woude and Kramer each added four.
Defensively, the Vikings were equally strong, totaling 43 digs without committing a digging error. Nate Turkstra anchored the back row with 16 digs, while Voss added nine.
Illiana Christian’s consistent execution on both sides of the ball helped secure the straight-set victory.
