The Illiana Christian Vikings dropped a 57–21 decision to the Andrean Fighting 59ers in a girls varsity basketball non-conference matchup.
According to reports, Illiana Christian relied on a balanced approach rather than high scoring, with ten players contributing points in an overall low-scoring performance. Seniors Stella Eenigenburg and Kennedy Voss delivered efficient minutes, each achieving one successful shot out of two attempts. Keilah Mudde, Olivia Olthof, and Kennadie Williams also added to the scoreboard by converting one attempt each.
Lauren Paliga emerged as the most active shooter for Illiana Christian, leading in attempts despite finishing with a 1-for-6 record. Her efforts were noted for generating additional possessions. Mudde and Olthof were recognized for their rebounding skills, underscoring the team’s commitment to compete on every play despite facing challenges with turnovers and shooting consistency.
Looking ahead, Illiana Christian will transition to postseason play by facing Lowell in a neutral-site contest on February 3 as part of the 2025–26 Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Class 3A Girls Basketball State Tournament (Sectional 18 at Kankakee Valley).
This upcoming matchup holds significance due to recent encounters between the teams. Just two weeks prior, Illiana Christian experienced a loss against Lowell with a score of 54–34 during a home non-conference game on January 20. The Vikings now have an opportunity for redemption on a larger stage with their season’s continuation at stake.
