Illiana Christian baseball survived a wild, high‑scoring battle Tuesday night, edging Glenn 8–7 in a game that swung back and forth from the opening inning.
The Vikings defeated Glenn on May 19 at John Glenn High School.
Illiana struck early with three runs in the first and added three more in the third, building a lead they would protect the rest of the way. Senior Tanner Post delivered the biggest swings of the night, going 3‑for‑4 with two runs and four RBI, including a home run that fueled the Vikings’ offensive surge. Sophomore Matt Tameling added a 2‑for‑3, two‑RBI performance, while senior Jonathan Sitter reached base four times and scored twice. Sophomore Aden Batz chipped in two hits and an RBI as Illiana totaled nine hits and eight runs across the first five innings.
On the bases, the Vikings were relentless, swiping six stolen bases, led by Nick Deblock’s three and Sitter’s two, constantly pressuring Glenn’s defense.
Illiana used three arms to close out the win. Tameling worked the first four innings, sophomore Emmitt Wondaal recorded a key out in relief, and senior Micah McGuire finished the final 2.2 scoreless innings, allowing no hits and striking out two to secure the victory.
