Illiana Christian used a balanced offensive attack and strong defensive effort to earn a 64-47 road victory over Lowell in nonconference action.
The game was played Jan. 20 at Lowell High School.
The Vikings set the tone early, taking a 13-9 lead after the first quarter before extending the margin with a 22-point second period to carry a 35-22 advantage into halftime. Illiana Christian continued to apply pressure coming out of the break, matching Lowell’s energy in the third quarter and then closing the game with a 13-7 edge in the fourth to secure the 17-point win.
Illiana Christian’s ability to control tempo and limit second-chance opportunities proved key, as the Vikings consistently forced contested shots and converted in transition. The offense remained balanced throughout the night, with multiple players contributing to a 64-point effort and steady ball movement creating quality looks from both the perimeter and inside.
Lowell made a push in the third quarter, outscoring the Vikings 18-16 in the frame, but Illiana Christian responded with disciplined defense and efficient execution down the stretch to prevent any sustained run.
Up next, Illiana Christian will travel to face Wheeler on Feb. 10 with a 7 p.m. tipoff.
The last time the teams met, the Vikings defeated Wheeler 46-40 on Feb. 11.
