Illiana Christian boys basketball earned a 62–51 home non-conference victory over Whitko.
The game was played on Dec. 23 at Illiana Christian High School in Dyer, Indiana.
Illiana Christian controlled the game with consistent scoring and defensive pressure, building separation while limiting Whitko’s ability to sustain offensive runs. Graeson Roozeboom led all scorers with 20 points, providing a spark from beyond the arc as Illiana Christian’s offense found rhythm. Dane Van Essen added 14 points, while Ty Van Drunen and Colin O’Hara each chipped in 10 points to round out a balanced scoring effort. Senior guards Chase Thiel and Noah Sons helped steady the Vikings on both ends of the floor, with junior contributors Layton Topp and Aidan Drost adding depth as Illiana Christian closed out the win.
The victory came in the championship game of the Cougar Classic, where the Vikings relied on speed and team defense to counter a size disadvantage. Illiana Christian applied pressure throughout the contest and never let up, extending its winning streak to six consecutive games.
Illiana Christian will return to action on Jan. 10 when it travels to Hobart for a 7 p.m. matchup.
The two teams last met on Jan. 18 at Hobart, where Illiana Christian fell 59–54.
