Illiana Christian boys wrestling competed in postseason action at the IHSAA Boys Wrestling Regional at Crown Point, totaling 12 team points in the Class A1 field.
The regional tournament took place Feb. 7 at Crown Point High School as Illiana Christian faced a deep lineup of regional qualifiers in one of the state’s most competitive postseason environments.
The Vikings’ scoring was led by Benjamin Armstrong and Caden Morrissey, who each earned fourth-place finishes in their respective weight classes. Armstrong placed fourth at 126 pounds, scoring six team points while battling through a challenging bracket. He opened the tournament with a decisive 14-7 decision in the quarterfinals before falling in the semifinals and third-place match against experienced opponents.
Morrissey added another six points for Illiana Christian with a fourth-place finish at 138 pounds, helping the Vikings place multiple wrestlers on the podium. Both wrestlers showed resilience throughout the day, advancing through early rounds and competing in placement matches against high-level competition.
Jared Antunez (132), Cayden Rasmason (144), and Jacob Vanderlaan (175) also represented Illiana Christian at the regional level. While they did not place, each wrestler gained valuable postseason experience by qualifying and competing on a demanding tournament stage.
Illiana Christian’s performance at the Crown Point Regional reflected the program’s continued presence in postseason competition, with multiple wrestlers earning placement points and building experience against some of the top individuals in the region.
