After a tough 0–2 loss at Chesterton on Aug. 19, Illiana Christian bounced back Saturday with a spirited 4–2 road win over Hobart, showing resilience and offensive depth early in the season.
The Vikings found the back of the net four times, anchored by senior captain Matt Davids’ two-goal effort. Juniors Micah Wieringa and Logan Bouwman also added goals to round out the balanced attack. Each goal came at pivotal moments, helping Illiana maintain momentum and shrug off a sluggish start.
Illiana’s defense, marshaled by goalkeeper Nick Neibert, stood firm despite Hobart’s attempts to stage a comeback. Neibert’s timely stops and clear communication helped stabilize the back line, preserving a two-goal advantage late into the match.
Up next: The Vikings return home Tuesday to take on Culver Academies in a non-conference tilt. With conference play approaching soon thereafter, Illiana Christian hopes this win will kickstart a consistent stretch of performance and confidence across the roster.
