The Illiana Christian Vikings were defeated 70-42 in their season opener against Kouts in a non-conference game on Tuesday night.
The matchup took place on November 25 in Kouts, Indiana, marking the beginning of the Vikings’ 2025-26 campaign away from home.
According to reports, Kouts maintained control early in the game, utilizing effective ball movement and balanced scoring to establish a lead that remained intact throughout the contest. Although Illiana Christian displayed moments of defensive pressure and offensive rhythm, they were unable to close the gap sufficiently to initiate a comeback. This loss leaves the Vikings with a 0-1 record as they work on developing new roles and building consistency within the team.
Seniors Chase Thiel and Noah Sons are leading a group focused on establishing leadership and stability within a rotation that includes several returning juniors. Thiel and Sons are expected to set high standards for execution and communication as Illiana Christian adapts to heightened expectations for its upperclassmen. The opening game also offered valuable varsity experience for emerging players who are anticipated to take on larger roles as the season progresses.
The Vikings will next face Griffith on December 12 at 7 p.m.
