The Illiana Christian girls’ basketball team encountered a formidable challenge on Tuesday night, succumbing to Morgan Township with a score of 47-19 in a non-conference game.
According to the match report, the Vikings displayed determination throughout but struggled to maintain an offensive rhythm against the disciplined defense of the Cherokees. The game took place on November 11 at Morgan Township High School in Valparaiso, Indiana.
Seniors Sienna Eenigenburg, Jaylyn Podlin, and Kennedy Voss led Illiana with their experience and composure on both ends of the court. Junior guards Keilah Mudde and Jori Davids contributed by pushing the tempo, while sophomore Olivia Olthof added energy and ball movement on the perimeter. Senior forward Ellyson Oeverman focused on contesting rebounds and creating second-chance opportunities. The Vikings managed eight points in the first quarter but were limited as Morgan Township extended its lead through consistent shooting and defensive pressure. The game served as valuable early-season practice for Illiana as they continue to refine their execution and build team chemistry under head coach Denise VanRyn.
Illiana Christian is set to return home to host Griffith on Monday, November 25, at 7 p.m. in the Illiana Main Gym.
