Illiana Christian boys wrestling wrapped up the regular season with a runner-up finish at the Dan Mora Super 8 Tournament, closing the schedule with a 20–6 overall record.
The tournament was held Jan. 24 at Lake Station, where the Vikings battled through a strong field and advanced to the championship match before falling to Goshen in a hard-fought final.
Illiana Christian put together a complete team effort throughout the day, earning key wins across multiple weight classes to secure a spot in the finals. The Vikings showed balance in the lineup, mixing bonus-point victories with tight decisions to steadily build their team score round by round. Strong performances in the early and middle weights helped establish momentum, while the upper weights added crucial points to keep Illiana Christian in contention as the bracket progressed.
In the championship match, the Vikings went head-to-head with a deep Goshen lineup and competed in several closely contested bouts, with multiple matches decided late. Although the title ultimately went to Goshen, Illiana Christian’s second-place finish marked one of its strongest tournament results of the season and highlighted the depth and consistency that led to 20 wins during the regular season.
Up Next Illiana Christian will compete in the IHSAA Regional on Feb. 7 at 8 a.m. at Crown Point High School.
