Illiana Christian earned a nonconference home victory Saturday, defeating Chicago Christian 45–25 behind a strong defensive effort and balanced scoring.
The game was played Jan. 10 at Illiana Christian High School in Dyer, Indiana.
The Vikings set the tone early by controlling the glass and limiting Chicago Christian’s scoring opportunities, holding the Knights to 25 points for the game. Illiana Christian forced difficult shots in the half court and used steady ball movement on offense to build separation as the game progressed. The defense created multiple transition chances and kept Chicago Christian from finding a consistent rhythm at any point in the contest.
Offensively, the Vikings featured contributions throughout the lineup. Sophomore Lauren Paliga led the way with a team-high 15 points and nine rebounds, providing a strong presence in the paint. Junior Keilah Mudde added 10 points, while seniors S. Eenigenburg and E. Oeverman each scored six. Illiana Christian finished with 42 total rebounds and 11 steals, turning defense into second-chance opportunities and easy baskets. The Vikings also recorded eight assists, showing good ball movement and patience in the half-court offense.
Up next, Illiana Christian will host DeMotte Christian at 7 p.m. on Jan. 26 in a nonconference matchup.
The two teams last met during the previous season, with Illiana Christian coming away with the win.
