Illiana Christian concluded a notable girls’ golf season with a commendable performance at the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Regional meet.
The event took place on Saturday, September 27, at Valparaiso Country Club. The team was led by sophomore Jonna Balkema, who scored a 93, followed by senior Regan Kats with a 95. Junior Kati Dobrijevich completed the team’s scoring with a 100. Although these scores did not qualify them for the state tournament, the performance marked the end of a season characterized by highlights and consistency.
Illiana Christian finished the year with an impressive 10-2 overall record and secured its third consecutive conference championship. This achievement signifies a three-peat for the program. The team’s success was attributed to steady play on the course and a commitment to growth and sportsmanship.
Coaches and players emphasized their focus on staying grounded, playing for “an audience of One,” and giving “God the glory” for their accomplishments. With a blend of experienced leaders and younger talent, Illiana Christian has built on its tradition of excellence and set the stage for continued success in future seasons.
