Illiana Christian earned a sixth-place team finish at the NCC Girls Holiday Throwdown and Tiaras, competing against a strong field of conference programs in a full-day individual tournament.
The tournament took place Saturday, Dec. 20, at Highland High School.
The Vikings were led by a championship performance from Gabriella at 115 pounds. She opened the tournament with a major decision victory over NR Maddie Lams of Hobart, winning 12–4. Gabriella followed with a statement win against No. 8 Alexia Utley of Lowell, securing a pin at 4:46 to capture the 115-pound title. With the championship performance, she earned recognition as the 2025 NCC Girls Holiday Throwdown and Tiaras champion and is projected to enter the postseason as the No. 1 seed in her sectional bracket.
Illiana Christian wrestlers faced deep brackets and quality competition throughout the day, gaining valuable experience against ranked and conference opponents. The Vikings’ sixth-place finish reflected consistent scoring and competitive efforts across the lineup.
Up next, Illiana Christian will compete at the IHSAA Regional on Jan. 9 at 2 p.m. at Goshen.
