Illiana Christian earned a 55-51 road win over Calumet New Tech in a close conference matchup.
The game was played Feb. 5 at Calumet New Tech High School as Illiana Christian traveled for conference action.
Illiana Christian controlled key stretches of the game and executed down the stretch to preserve the four-point victory. The Vikings maintained composure in a tight contest, limiting Calumet New Tech’s late opportunities while continuing to generate offense when it mattered most. Defensive stops and steady ball control helped Illiana Christian protect its lead in the closing minutes.
The Vikings were led by a group of upperclassmen and juniors who anchored the lineup throughout the game. Senior Chase Thiel and senior Noah Sons provided experience and leadership in the backcourt, while juniors Ty Van Drunen, Layton Topp, Dane Van Essen, and Graeson Roozeboom contributed across multiple positions. Juniors Colin O’Hara and Aidan Drost added size and presence in the frontcourt, helping Illiana Christian remain balanced on both ends of the floor.
Up next, Illiana Christian will travel to face Lake Station Edison on Feb. 20, with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
The last meeting between the two teams took place Feb. 21 of last season, when Illiana Christian earned an 80-57 victory over Lake Station Edison.
