The Illiana Christian girls’ volleyball team secured a victory against Beecher with a 3–1 win in a non-conference match. The event took place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Illiana Christian High School in Dyer, where the Vikings capitalized on the support of their home crowd.
According to reports, Beecher narrowly won the first set 25–21. However, Illiana Christian responded strongly with a decisive 25–9 win in the second set. The Vikings maintained their momentum into the third and fourth sets, winning them 25–17 and 25–22 through effective attacking and solid defense.
Senior captain Dorothy Leep played a pivotal role with nine kills and 12 digs, leading the team’s comeback. Sophomore Emma Martin and senior Izzy Borrero contributed eight kills each. Junior A. Lindemulder facilitated play with 19 assists and effective serving. Sophomore Karaline Kuiper made her presence felt at the net with six kills and four blocks, while senior libero Ava Bercot led defensively with a team-high of 21 digs.
Head coach R. Vander Zee commented on the performance: “This was a great test for our group,” he said. “We responded exactly how we needed to after that first set. The energy, communication, and effort were outstanding, and that’s the kind of volleyball that wins in October.”
With this victory, Illiana Christian’s record improves to 15–6 overall as they gain confidence heading into postseason play. The Vikings are scheduled to continue their campaign against Kankakee Valley on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
