Illiana Christian boys wrestling finished fifth as a team at the IHSAA Boys Wrestling Sectional on Saturday, totaling 99.5 points.
The sectional tournament took place Jan. 31 at Crown Point High School, where Illiana Christian advanced multiple wrestlers into the championship and consolation rounds while competing against a deep field. Despite forfeits at several weight classes, the Vikings remained competitive throughout the day and secured a top-five team finish through consistent placement scoring in the middle weights.
Illiana Christian was led by Benjamin Armstrong, who earned a third-place finish at 126 pounds to anchor the team’s scoring. Jared Antunez added a fourth-place finish at 132, while Caden Morrissey placed fourth at 138. Cayden Rasmason also contributed with a fourth-place finish at 144, keeping the Vikings in contention for a strong team placement.
Additional scoring came from Jacob Vanderlaan, who finished fourth at 175, and Aiden Kamp, who placed fifth at 106. Jacob Rozendal added a fifth-place finish at 157, while Jack VanNoort placed sixth at 165 and Benjamin Admiraal finished sixth at 190. Those efforts helped offset multiple forfeits and allowed Illiana Christian to remain among the top teams in the sectional standings.
