Illiana Christian’s boys wrestling team recorded multiple podium finishes, highlighted by two individual champions, at the Greater South Shore Conference Championships.
The conference tournament was held Saturday, Jan. 17, at Crown Point High School in Crown Point, Indiana, bringing together top programs from across the GSSC to compete for individual titles and team points.
Ben Armstrong captured the conference championship at 125 pounds, while Cayden Rasmason claimed the title at 144 to lead the Vikings. Caden Morrissey added a runner-up finish at 138, giving Illiana Christian three finalists on the day.
Strong depth was shown across the lineup with fourth-place finishes from Logan Downs at 120, Jared Antunez at 132, Jacob Rozendal at 157, and Canon Maples at 285. Additional placers included Aiden Kamp, who took sixth at 106, Ben Admiraal with a sixth-place finish at 190, and Carter Misch, who placed sixth at 215.
The collection of champions, finalists, and multiple medalists reflected a balanced effort across the weight classes and a competitive showing in one of the conference’s deeper fields.
Up next, Illiana Christian will compete in the IHSAA Sectional on Jan. 31 at Crown Point High School, with wrestling scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
