Illiana Christian High School’s cross country teams achieved a significant victory at the conference meet, with both the boys’ and girls’ teams securing conference championships.
The event took place on Saturday, October 4.
On the boys’ side, senior Mason Drost claimed the individual conference title, leading a strong Illiana squad. Dane Scheeringa finished third, Alan Kuzmar fifth, Milo Perez seventh, and Max VanLaten eighth. All these athletes earned first-team all-conference honors, contributing to the team’s overall victory. Grant Sitter and Joey O’Connor were named to the second team with their 11th and 13th place finishes respectively. Other notable performances included Braden Eenigenburg, Ethan Vermeulen, Levi Schutt, and Matthew Sherman who all placed in the top 20.
The girls’ team mirrored this success by placing five runners in the top seven positions. Olivia Olthof finished third, followed closely by Madi Schurman in fourth place, Ellie Ratliff fifth, Jori Davids sixth, and Danni Dodge seventh — all earning first-team all-conference honors. Hazel Porter and Jenna Demantes received second-team recognition for their 10th and 11th place finishes respectively. Several other teammates also earned top-20 ribbons.
Looking ahead, Illiana Christian’s cross country teams will prepare for the upcoming sectional meet scheduled for Saturday, October 18.
