Illiana Christian secured a straight-set victory over Wheeler, achieving a 3-0 win in a conference volleyball matchup.
The game took place on Monday, September 29, at Illiana Christian High School. The Vikings demonstrated strong performance by winning the first two sets with identical scores of 25-19 and concluding the match with a closer 25-22 finish. Consistent serving and steady play at the net allowed Illiana to maintain control throughout the match.
Seniors Dorothy Leep and Karaline Kuiper led the attack with nine kills each, while sophomore Josie Balkema contributed five kills. Senior I. Borrero added four kills and achieved a match-high of four aces at the service line. Sophomore Emma Martin made significant contributions with five kills and two blocks, while junior Zosia Helfen added seven service points. Defensively, Grace Meyer recorded a solo block, with several Vikings combining for timely stops at the net.
Wheeler fought to stay competitive, pushing Illiana into extended rallies and forcing adjustments, particularly in the third set. Despite being swept, the Bearcats displayed resilience and determination.
