The Illiana Christian boys basketball team earned a 67–50 victory over Andrean in a nonconference matchup.
The game was played Jan. 16 at Andrean High School in Merrillville, Indiana, as the Vikings traveled from Dyer to face the Fighting 59ers.
Illiana Christian built control through balanced scoring and consistent defensive pressure, creating separation as the game progressed. The Vikings rotated multiple guards and forwards, using ball movement and interior touches to generate scoring opportunities while limiting Andrean’s transition chances. Junior and senior leadership in the backcourt helped maintain tempo, and Illiana Christian’s size in the frontcourt provided an advantage on the boards and in the paint throughout the four quarters.
The Vikings’ lineup features senior guard Chase Thiel and senior Noah Sons, along with juniors Ty Van Drunen, Layton Topp, Dane Van Essen, Graeson Roozeboom, Colin O’Hara and Aidan Drost, giving Illiana Christian a balanced mix of perimeter shooting and interior presence. Sophomores Emmitt Wondaal and Grant Sitter also continue to contribute valuable minutes as the team develops depth during the second half of the season.
Up next, Illiana Christian will host Victory Christian Academy in a nonconference contest scheduled for Jan. 30 with a 7 p.m. tipoff.
The last time the two teams met, Victory Christian Academy defeated Illiana Christian 77–62 on Jan. 31 in a road matchup for the Vikings.
