Illiana Christian boys basketball earned a road victory Friday night, defeating Hobart 63–58 in a nonconference matchup.
The game was played Jan. 10 at Hobart High School in Hobart, Indiana.
The Vikings were paced by their senior leadership, with guards Chase Thiel and Noah Sons anchoring the lineup on both ends of the floor. Thiel provided steady ball control and perimeter scoring, while Sons helped set the tone defensively and facilitated the offense in key stretches. Illiana Christian used balanced scoring and disciplined half-court execution to build a narrow lead entering the fourth quarter, then closed the game by converting timely free throws and limiting Hobart’s second-chance opportunities. The Vikings also did a strong job protecting the basketball late, forcing Hobart into contested shots as the clock wound down.
Illiana Christian’s senior backcourt presence proved critical in maintaining composure during the final minutes, as the Vikings executed in transition and in the half court to preserve the five-point margin. The win added another quality road result for the program as it continues through conference and nonconference play.
Up next, Illiana Christian will host Hanover Central at 7 p.m. on Jan. 23 in a nonconference matchup.
The two teams last met March 4, when Hanover Central defeated Illiana Christian 62–55 in a postseason contest.
