Illiana Christian softball put together nine hits but could not overcome an early deficit, falling 7–4 to Crown Point on Thursday, May 21, at Crown Point High School.
The Bulldogs built their lead with three runs in the first inning and three more in the second, then added a final run in the sixth. Illiana answered with four runs across the middle and late frames, but the rally fell short.
The Vikings’ offense was balanced, with Lauren Mish, Olivia Daliege, and Emmy Jansma each collecting two hits. Daliege and Jansma both drove in runs, while Mya VanderWoude added two RBIs on a 1‑for‑3 day. Illiana finished with nine hits as a team.
In the circle, freshman Grayce Scheeringa carried the load, working six innings and allowing seven runs on eight hits while striking out one. Defensively, Illiana turned a double play and posted a strong team fielding percentage.
Despite the 7–4 loss, the Vikings showed resilience at the plate and in the field, matching Crown Point in hits and battling until the final out.
