Jonathan Sitter delivered a standout performance to help lift Illiana Christian past Wheeler 6-2 in a conference baseball matchup.
The game took place April 13 at Wheeler High School, where the Vikings jumped out early and maintained control behind consistent hitting and strong pitching.
Illiana Christian set the tone with two runs in the first inning and continued to apply pressure throughout the game. The Vikings added single runs in the third and fourth innings before creating separation with two more runs in the sixth. Sitter led the offense with a 3-for-4 outing, including a triple and an RBI. Nick Deblock added two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored, while Hudson Post contributed a home run and an RBI. L. VanProoyen also recorded two hits, and S. Bandstra scored twice to help round out a balanced offensive effort.
On the mound, Illiana Christian limited Wheeler to just three hits while striking out 10 batters. Tyler Hutton earned the win with eight strikeouts over five innings, and Emmitt Wondaal provided two scoreless innings to start the game.
The Vikings also played a clean defensive game without committing an error, helping secure the conference victory.
