Illiana Christian Boys Basketball earned a 67-50 road victory over Wheeler in conference action.
The game was played Feb. 10 at Wheeler High School, where Illiana Christian controlled the tempo and created separation in the second half. The Vikings executed efficiently on both ends of the floor to secure the 17-point win away from home.
Illiana relied heavily on its upperclassmen throughout the contest. Senior guard Chase Thiel provided leadership in the backcourt, while senior Noah Sons added steady play on both ends. Junior Ty Van Drunen contributed to the offensive rhythm, and juniors Layton Topp and Dane Van Essen helped stretch the floor and apply defensive pressure. Graeson Roozeboom and Colin O’Hara added size and versatility inside, with O’Hara’s presence in the paint creating matchup challenges. Aidan Drost also contributed key minutes as the Vikings maintained control down the stretch.
The balanced effort from the junior and senior core helped Illiana Christian dictate tempo and limit Wheeler’s scoring opportunities in the second half.
The road win reflects the growth of Illiana Christian’s veteran leadership as the Vikings continue building momentum late in the season.
