The Illiana Christian Vikings boys cross country team prepares for the 2025 fall season under the direction of the coaching staff, including head coach Jorge Ramos and assistant Paul West. Returning runners are eager to build off the program’s historical benchmark—a second-place finish at the IHSA class 2A state meet in 2013.
Summer training has emphasized endurance, pace control, and race strategy, with workouts focused on tempo runs, hill repeats, and simulated race conditions. Emerging talent from the junior class is pushing the upperclass runners in time trials and team meets, raising the overall standard and deepening the varsity pool.
The season opens with early invitationals designed to test lineup consistency and sharpening times before the Greater South Shore Conference season heats up. With experienced runners setting tempo and strong support from underclass qualifiers, the Vikings hope to translate summer effort into top finishes in league and sectional competition.
With disciplined preparation, deepening roster strength, and strategic guidance from Ramos and West, the boys team is aiming not just to compete, but to contend as a conference force in 2025.
