Illiana Christian’s varsity boys tennis program delivered a complete performance Monday, shutting out Kankakee Valley 5–0 in a match that highlighted the squad’s balance and overall depth.
While the scoreboard reflected dominance, the story of the night was how evenly contributions came across the lineup. Singles players controlled rallies with patient groundstrokes and precise shot placement, while doubles teams leaned on chemistry to dominate at the net. Each position executed its role cleanly, demonstrating a roster that doesn’t rely on just one or two standout athletes.
Head coach Karen Blaauw praised the collective effort, pointing out how communication and discipline carried the team through tense points. Even in games that tightened, the Vikings responded with composure, closing sets with confidence.
Beyond the immediate win, the sweep sent a message about Illiana’s depth heading into the heart of its schedule. By showing strength in every court position, the Vikings proved they are capable of contending across the board — a critical factor in conference competition.
The Vikings will now prepare for their next test, carrying momentum from a flawless opener.
