Illiana Christian kept Andrean’s offense contained for stretches on Monday, June 1, but the Vikings were unable to generate the offense needed in a 5–0 loss in an Indiana high school baseball playoff game at Andrean High School.
The inning‑by‑inning line shows Andrean doing its damage early, scoring three runs in the second, one in the third, and another in the fifth to build a lead that Illiana could not overcome.
Despite the loss, Illiana Christian’s pitching staff turned in a competitive effort. Senior Tanner Post worked five innings, allowing just three hits while striking out five. All five runs charged to him were unearned. Senior Caleb Kieft followed with a strong inning of relief, throwing a scoreless sixth with no hits allowed and one walk.
Offensively, the Vikings finished with three hits, with Jonathan Sitter, Logan VanProoyen, and Tanner Post each recording one. Illiana also turned in several strong defensive moments, as Nick Neibert collected four assists while Sitter and Aden Batz each posted five putouts to help keep the game within reach.
Although the Vikings could not break through against Andrean’s pitching, their effort on the mound and in the field kept them competitive throughout the postseason matchup.
