Illiana Christian rebounded from a midweek setback Saturday with a strong 4–2 road victory over Hobart, giving the Vikings their first win of the fall season. The result lifted their overall record to 1–1 after a 0–2 loss to Chesterton earlier in the week.
The Vikings came out with urgency, striking early to seize control of the match. A well-balanced attack featured two goals from senior Matt Davids and timely finishes by juniors Micah Wieringa and Logan Bouwman. Their efficient finishing in the attacking third kept Hobart under pressure throughout.
On the defensive end, Illiana Christian’s back line remained organized, limiting clear chances and containing Hobart’s counterattacks. Senior keeper Nick Neibert made several key saves to preserve the lead late in the second half.
Looking ahead, the Vikings will return home Tuesday to host Culver Academies, hoping to build momentum in front of their fans. With conference play looming, Illiana Christian looks to sharpen both offensive cohesion and defensive discipline in a crucial stretch of their schedule.
